EBF: Where the Universe Conspires for Unlikely Encounters

Pierre & Anouchka-Brochet – Tao

Just yesterday, I had no idea my day would take such a… galactic turn. Picture this: a “normal” day at M Tech, followed by an extraordinary meeting with Pierre-Christian Brochet, a renowned art collector who, like an astronaut, explores artistic universes that few dare to traverse. By his side, Anouchka Brochet, an artist whose very presence seems to turn the air into poetry.

Today, at EBF Sidi Ghanem, it felt as if the conversation picked up right where it left off, in a dance of ideas about art, creativity, and education… and our report on creative industries. Yes, the report I co-authored with Soufiane Mezzourh, who, incidentally, captured this unique moment in a photo. A photo that brings together different worlds, yet ones not so far apart: Pierre-Christian’s, devoted to artistic incubation, and ours, dedicated to entrepreneurial incubation.

In another series of improbable encounters, Pierre’s visit to EBF Sidi Ghanem this morning coincided with a hub of entrepreneurial activity, including the prestigious EM Lyon and MBA students from the University of Connecticut. In this crossroads of talent, Pierre took the stage to pitch his thoughts on learning pathways, a subject increasingly captivating him: short-format training. Imagine a moment where artists, entrepreneurs, and students engage in an impromptu, rich, and unexpected dialogue.

And that was just the beginning. After this visit, the adventure continued… An immersive journey through Sidi Ghanem, starting with the magical world of LRNCE and its dreamy universe, then on to Les Dix Doigts, an inspiring concept store. We made a stop at our friend Nasser’s Tribaliste, a place where Berber soul blends with contemporary aesthetics. And to close this artistic odyssey, we visited Hassan Hajjaj at the heart of his memory restaurant, a gallery, and a unique concept store, before ending our journey with my friends El Baroudi at MFF, the perfect conclusion to a day full of discoveries.

What do I take away from this? A profound sense of gratitude. Gratitude to Pierre-Christian and Anouchka, who reminded me that every encounter carries a lesson. Gratitude to EBF, this improbable place where such diverse paths intersect, and where every day can turn into an unexpected journey.

So, if you happen to visit EBF, don’t be surprised: you might meet a collector, an artist, an MBA student, or maybe… an astronaut? 😉

Pierre-Christian Brochet: A Pioneer at the Intersection of Contemporary Art and Education

Pierre-Christian Brochet is a contemporary art collector, publisher, and film producer whose career spans decades and continents. Passionate about emerging art scenes, particularly in Russia, he began building his collection in the 1980s, blending German, American, French, and Russian works. His fascination with Soviet underground art, discovered during his first visit to Moscow in 1989, marked a turning point. He quickly became one of the most influential patrons of contemporary Russian art, with a collection featuring major figures like Oleg Kulik. One of his acquisitions even found its way to the Centre Pompidou. Alongside this, Pierre-Christian has worked as a publisher, releasing books and guides, notably under the “Petit Futé” brand. Always driven by a desire for transmission, he has produced documentaries and hosted over 300 episodes of the cultural television show “Russie, amour éternel.”

Today, Pierre-Christian plays a key role at the Faculty of Creative Industries at the prestigious Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow, where he leads the contemporary art program and artistic unit. Through his work, he mentors and inspires a new generation of artists while promoting innovative educational formats, such as short-format training, which particularly excites him. Pierre-Christian is also an active advocate for dialogue between art and economics, organizing exhibitions and exploring the synergies between creativity and society. A visionary and builder of bridges across cultures and disciplines, he embodies the belief that art can transcend geographical and intellectual boundaries to become a driver of collective transformation.
